Weird in Love

“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” Dr. Seuss

(PS...Jamie, I think everyone else is weird, of course we are the normal ones. Just a side note)

Blessed

There is no need to tell me just how blessed I am. I was reminded tonight when I came home to my Aunt Myra and Cousin Cheyenne.

Honor 9/11

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Edmund Burke

I've loved this quote for what seems like forever. I guess it seems so special to me because no matter the situation, I feel like it fits. Today I honor those lost in the attacks of Sept. 11, but I don't forget that evil will always thrive unless good men stand up. Not necessarily take a physical stand, although I am so grateful for those brave ones who do, but take a moral stand for things you know in your heart to be right. Don't make decisions in your mind, those are carnal and vain, but with your heart and your conscience. A truly unselfish soul makes a stand for what is right, whether it benefits them or not. Don't fall into the sway of popularity or social correctness. Remember, if you are doing what God taught to be right, the road is rocky and persecution abounds.

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:10

Our Rusty

When I was about 10 our family lost their home in a house fire. My room was upstairs, so there were a few things that were salvaged. I remember getting some items back from the cleaner. This old brown "Rusty-bear" was one of them. I wasn't especially attached to Rusty when I was young, but after he survived the fire I felt like he was extra special. He traveled with me through several moves, and ended up in a box of sentiments that I had hoarded. I was moving some things around several years ago when I found him. I was expecting Charlie at the time, so I unpacked him and put him in Charlie's room. When he was born he grew to love Rusty, and even more when I was expecting Brady. We changed him into baby clothes, gave him a diaper, and he used Baby B's seats before he came. This helped Charlie become even more excited about a little baby coming. Now it is Brady's turn. Rusty has been the root of so many fights because they both want him to be somewhere else. He has been shot down, lightsabered, run over by old McDonald's tractor, drank apple juice, rocked to sleep, doctored, used the potty, rode in the wagon, and snuggled by two very sweet boys. I love him, and I am glad they do too. I am not so sure what I will do when they both decide to leave and take him.......maybe he will just live with me :)
